Ever imagined or dreamed off becoming a mega-blockbuster actor, just by the tip of your fingers...???

Ever watched a movie and known you were supposed to play that role, except the director never came a-calling? Following the recent trend for not spelling things correctly, Yoostar is a gadget that lets you edit famous scenes from movies so that you can take over the staring roll and replace whatever Hollywood actor you want and maybe do a better job. (Any drama student who has ever sat through most of the filmatic versions of ‘Hamlet’ would kill for this gadget, believe me!)

The Yoostar comes with a webcam and integrated microphone, which it claims to be studio grade, so hopefully won’t make your rendition of the famous Godfather speech as jerky as stop motion animation and as fuzzy as a hamster with a blow dry. You also get a 6 foot by 6 foot green screen to film in front of and all the software needed to actually make the videos (sorry mac users- at the moment this is PC only, but a mac version will be available soon. Maybe Apple are just trying to get ‘i’ put at the front?).

Once you’ve filmed yourself reciting lines, and replaced the green with the film reel, your efforts can easily be uploaded onto YouTube for the world to judge. You get 14 famous scenes with the Yoostar, and there are many more available for download from their online store for a price (beginning to sound like iTunes with movies isn’t it?). There’s a pretty good selection on there- ‘Rocky’, ‘Blues Brothers’, ‘Forest Gump’ even ‘Sesame Street!’- although I hope they’ll extend the selection soon. !

Unfortunately the Yoostar isn’t retailing in England yet so would cost you the $165.95 plus air fair if you really want one now.  (I’m sorry- I’ll find some English gadgets this week I promise!) Apparently there are plans to launch the gadget worldwide, so we’ll keep you updated if we hear of that happening. For now it looks like you’ll have to keep asking the mirror if it’s lookin’ at yoo.
